Stress - Practical Solutions for Managing Stress and Stress Related Issues

stress-psychological-physicalStress is a psychological and physical response of the body that occurs whenever we must adapt to changing conditions: whether those conditions be real or perceived, positive or negative. We respond to stress in different ways. Some will be severely affected while others seem calm, cool, and collected all the time. Regardless, we all experience stress and that is not always a bad thing.

Stress is one way the body keeps you alive and fighting when you sense danger. It will help you stay focused, energetic, and alert during the danger. But there is a time when stress stops being helpful and starts impacting your life negatively. Too much stress often opens up a large number of problems, keeping you from living the way you may want to. Often, stress overload can cause memory problems, negative thoughts, and constant worrying. It can cause you to feel overwhelmed and lead to a short temper. Stress overload also impacts your physical well-being and your behavior by causing health issues in addition to changes in your eating and sleeping habits.

Excessive stress can be caused by problems with a relationship, your family, work or finances. Stress can also reflect your own unrealistic expectations of yourself, perfectionism, and pessimism.
